[Important Update & Informations] New progression system & new puzzles


Hi, Nonogramms has just received a very important update and I will explain my Game Design choices.

Updates :

  • New progression system : The player will now follow a linear progression and will not be able to choose the puzzle he wants from the beginning of the game. The free choice was there for the prototype of the game but I think a linear progression (of puzzles and difficulty) is beneficial for the player.
  • New map selector : Directly linked to the progression system, it takes the form of a "road" where you have to finish the previous puzzle to access the next one. The road is separated in portions/levels. The puzzles remain enigmatic until they are completed (no name, no image, just the size like 10x10)
  • Removal of all existing puzzles: the current puzzles were based on the Pokémon license which I don't own any rights to, it was again in a prototype and speed perspective. Note that 4 are still in the game but will disappear very soon.
  • Adding new puzzles: You guessed it, I'm going to start adding new puzzles entirely made by me. For the moment the theme will be fantasy (knight, monsters, magicians, ...) but it may change in the future. I will try to make puzzles harder and better because pixel art in the picross perspective is more complex than traditional pixel art so I will learn as I go along. The first one is available in the second puzzle (1 - 2).

Plans :

  • Improving this system: this is only the beginning of this update, I will try to do as soon as possible to make the necessary changes 
  • Saving: very quickly the lack of saving will become a problem in a progression system. I have already thought about it and it will be a priority in the short term
  •  Other puzzles : The creation of puzzles takes a lot of time so I'll release them on the way to 
  •  Other ideas: challenges, bigger puzzle, multilingual and others
